You Have, You Need: A Silk Work Blouse

Jun 13, 2023

This morning, I shared with you an incredible blouse for work.  And with a blouse that comes in white, black and a color (as most of BR’s clothing does), you might be tempted to buy the neutrals.  But let me show you how to style the peridot green blouse, so you can add a bit of color to your summer wardrobe.

Blouse // I would refer you to this morning’s post for a discussion of why I love this silk tee.  The style is great, versatile, and perfect for casual or professional wardrobes.  Need a plus-size piece that’s similar?  This MM LaFleur Silk Top is a great option.

Outfit One // Pair this bright top with a neutral skirt for the biggest bang.  I like it with navy, but it would also work well with ivory, gray or tan.  In winter, it would also go well with black.  The green just feels very fresh.  If you want to bring in even more color, you might try a lighter green skirt for a tone-on-tone look.

Silk scarves tied around the neck are back in a big way.  You can tie them around your neck with a button-up or with a sweater for a pop of print.  Or if you prefer to wear it as an accessory, twist it around the handle of your purse.

To bring the look together, I chose this scarf from J.Crew.  This country club scarf from Nordstrom is also a nice pick.  This floral scarf also has a vibrant print.

Outfit Two // Shorts are big this summer.  High-waisted, pleated shorts, in particular.  These shorts from Pinko are a lovely option.   I also like these chambray, belted shorts.  I also like how these Thea black shorts look a bit like a skirt.

To complement the neckline, I chose this chunky collar necklace from Baublebar.  I just adore it.  It would be fantastic with so many items.  But why a chunky necklace?  Because in my dreams, I’m Diane Lockhart, and can pull off that statuesque matriarch look.  Plus, if you’re not wearing a jacket, the necklace can really dress up a simple top and carry the whole outfit.

This Lizzie Fortunato necklace has an incredible texture and tiny hints of green.  If you want to go all in on a green necklace, this stone necklace has wonderful, natural texture.  I also like this more subtle necklace from Bonjouk.

This blouse is on my list for summer in a big way.  I may buy all of the colors, which would really save me some time finding tops to wear under suits.  But even without the suit, there are plenty of fun ways to wear it.

It is uncanny how you read my mind…this morning I thought of how I have so many black and white shells that I probably didn’t need another. But I have a navy skirt, navy pants, and white pants, and I think I have a green and navy scarf somewhere from the 2010s, so seems like enough of a reason to buy a green shirt!

I’ve always loved the scarves tied around the neck… SO glad to hear it’s back and need to muster up my confidence to give it a try. 🙂

I ordered this shirt in my usual size, Small, and love the green color, but it’s too short for me to tuck into pants (mostly on the sides with the slits) and was very boxy. So sad!
