You Have, You Need: Pink Blazer Edition

Sep 12, 2022

Whether you bought a millennial pink blazer in 2012 or a Barbie pink blazer last week, styling these rosy hued jackets can be a challenge.  So if you have one, what do you need to wear with it?  Here are a few options to make outfits of the jacket you already own (or might buy after reading this post).

Pink Blazer // This blush blazer from J.Crew is reminiscent of one that I purchased some years ago during the Millennial Pink explosion of 2012.  Ann Taylor also offers their classic Hutton blazer in a soft pearly pink.  And for something under-$100, this ASOS blazer is a good option (also in plus).

Looking for a brighter pink?  This Barbie pink blazer is right on trend.  Theory’s raspberry version isn’t quite as bright. This one from M&S is under-$100, and it might be my favorite of the bunch.

Outfit One // I spotted a reporter for CNBC wearing this look a few weeks ago, and I seared it into my memory.  I loved the way the shell pink created the perfect foil for the bright orange.  It was so vibrant.

This orange sweater is from Lingua Franca, but you can find a similar look for much less from Forte Cashmere.  This bright turtleneck from & Other Stories caught my eye.  Try this New York & Co. v-neck sweater.

Not completely sold on orange and pink?  How about coral and pink?  This coral Reiss sweater gives you the vibrancy without the high-test contrast.  Or for something a bit darker, try this persimmon sweater from Michael Kors.

Because the color palette is so bold, I chose these simple, but cool, hoop earrings from Argento Vivo.  The braided accent takes a simple, basic earring and makes it a little more interesting.  And Argento Vivo’s pieces are well-made with sterling silver.  These are a must buy for <$50.

As for what to wear on bottom, I would wear the pink suit pants that J.Crew sells to go with this jacket.  If that’s too much for you (and admittedly, it’s a lot of color), try a pair of jeans on the bottom or a pair of cream pants.  Not white, which will read too Palm Beach in June, but cream, like these & Other Stories pants.

Outfit Two // If you’re looking for a more versatile option for work, a monochromatic look on top with a pink camisole or blouse is the way to go.  You can pair this combination with gray, navy, ivory, or chocolate brown separates.  And sticking to one color on top will make the outfit look sophisticated and effortless all at the same time.

This <$30 silk camisole from Renee C comes in 23 colors.  So whichever you need, they have it.  I also like how the cowl-neck and the satin fabric give the outfit an interplay of textures that really works.

Prefer a blouse with sleeves?  This short-sleeve Everleigh blouse from Nordstrom Rack works.  Tahari has a long sleeve one that’s also a steal at under-$25.  If you need a plus-size, try this top from Skies are Blue.

I would wear this blouse and blazer with distressed denim.  So these Malachite earrings really give that simple pairing some pop.  The dark, natural stone looks great next to the soft ethereal pink.  I love the drop style, but if you prefer a stud, try this pair from Missoma.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
