My Favorite Pieces from Banana Republic

Sep 12, 2022

Last year, I bought a blazer from Banana Republic.  It was so good, I bought it in every color.  And while some of their summer styles weren’t for me (I was spending my holiday on a yacht anchored near the Dalmatian Coast), their fall wares are a different story.  Here are my favorite pieces from their latest line.

The pleating on the bodice of this Stella Sheath is sublime.  It would look so chic under a blazer.  It’s absolutely perfect for the office.  And the black dress is the perfect day-to-night option.

I can’t decide if I like the emerald green suit or the mustard yellow suit best, but one of these is coming home with me.  They’re both so cool and fashion forward, and yet, totally wearable.

Whether you’re in the office or at home, the Signature Tuxedo Shirt is a must for any wardrobe.  It looks amazing with denim, with work separates, or grab the tunic-length version to wear with leggings at home.  And since it comes in tall and petite, you can find the perfect length.

This Netta Ribbed Wrap Dress is on high on my wishlist for fall.  I will probably buy it in both colors.  Sadly, BR does not have the belt for sale (which seems like a mistake), but I found this similar one.

These Lorca boots are epic.  I didn’t think I would like the wood heel on the bottom of a black boot, but the more I look at it, the more I realize that it works.  It makes them a little cooler, a hair more casual, but still amazing.

Abra, how are you doing? I love your fashion, but I’m more concerned about your health.

    • Emily says:

I came here to say the same thing. I love reading the fashion updates but totally understand if you take maternity leave from the blog especially considering everything – hope you’re recovering well and that your baby girl is getting better as well.

      • Katie says:

Third. I don’t even know you personally, but have been a reader for a decade and was thinking of you and Sloane this weekend. I hope you’re both safely recovering.

        • Jenn S. says:

Fourth! I’m happy to see content because I hope it means you’re doing alright and that Sloane is better.

Love the dresses – but yes, definitely more concerned for you!

    • Laura says:

Fifth-ing the sentiment, and seconding that I like to see you posting because I hope things are okay.

Love your choices. Dead on. Don’t understand the summer comment BR is back in full swing and killing it on every level. Luuuuuv all your choices and Agree 100%. So glad the Old BR is back.

Hi Abra, all these BR links take me right to the home page!

Does anyone really know how to dress for a rainy February? It’s not winter. It’s not spring. Sweaters seem heavy. Just a shirt feels like you’ll be cold. It’s a puzzle.

The Range: Best Picks from Ann Taylor

One of the questions that is often asked about D.C. fashion is: Why is there so much Ann Taylor? The answer is simple enough — the hemlines are long enough, the styles are easy to wear, almost everything is machine washable, and it’s easy to find pieces for professional offices or casual ones. Plus, there’s […]

The Range: Trouser Jeans

Yesterday, we chatted about not-see-through tees. Today, I want to talk about jeans. I am so grateful wide leg denim is back in a big way. And if you’re going to the office, you need a trouser style jean to see you through the week (or just casual Friday). Here are some favorites in different […]
