Happy Hour: A Thanksgiving Charcuterie Board

Nov 20, 2020

What do you do with Thanksgiving leftovers?  Because we’re about to have a bunch.

Sandwiches, of course.  Maybe a full dinner re-do.  But that’s tiresome after 2-3 meals.  This charcuterie board is here to help.

This idea, from Reluctant Entertainer, turns your Turkey Day leftovers into a grazing board with sandwich fixings and snack items.  It’s a great idea.  I would probably get some really flavorful rolls — maybe a sun-dried tomato or hearty seven-grain — for extra zing.  I would also put a small, warming pot filled with gravy nearby for people who like a little to moisten the bread.

Everything at Banana Republic is half off today.  This turtleneck sweater comes in a handful of warm autumn neutrals.  I’m also hitting their Work Shop to pick up some machine-washable suiting for the legislative session.

I would never do this, because I am not a meal prep person, but the recipes in here for the turkey leftovers looked really good: https://www.thekitchn.com/leftover-turkey-meal-prep-plan-23099699 I personally have made a butternut squash lasagna with leftover roast turkey, bechemal and carmelized onions in it, and I have also seasoned leftover turkey meat for tacos. Our favorite is always turkey dumpling soup though.

I am actually doing a Thanksgiving charcuterie board for Thanksgiving this year, since it’s just me and my husband. We’ll have all the normal fun charcuterie stuff, plus some smoked turkey, cornbread muffins, and cranberry jam. Trying to think of ways to incorporate other Thanksgiving foods into the charcuterie. Maybe pickled green beans. Candied pecans. Still noodling on it.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
