I’m not ready for fall. I’m not too proud to admit it. I thought I was excited for boots and sweaters and getting to skip the weekly pedicures, but I was wrong. The second it started raining and the temperature dropped into the 40s, I was curled up in a ball on top of a pile of summer dresses crying my eyes out.
So it’s understandable that I’m not ready for hot cocktails, but can a cocktail still have flavors of fall and be served over ice? Of course, it can.
Waiting on Martha is peddling this amazing Rhubarb Old Fashioned Cocktail. I know that technically rhubarb is harvested in spring, but with the blood orange and bourbon, this cocktail feels like it’s also begrudgingly entering fall.
If you can’t find fresh rhubarb, you have two options. You can use canned rhubarb to make the simple syrup, or you could use rhubarb bitters.
Whether I like it or not, the weather is turning chilly. This ASOS oversize sweaterdress looks cozy. This Free People sweaterdress has a cool twisted knit. But I think my favorite option is this $56 textured stitch option in blush.
Plus-size? I love the ruffle details on this pine green sweaterdress. Petite? This pleated sleeve sweaterdress from AT is fun. Tall? Try this burgundy ripple textured dress.

Send your chilly weather down south! It was 93 here yesterday, so seeing a cocktail on ice while everyone else is hawking cider and pumpkin spice is a welcome change.
Minnesota here, and all I can say is bring on fall. Last week we had two 90 days. I am so over summer I can barely handle it!
Ditto Wisconsin (Milwaukee area)!
Ditto, Washington DC!
