Three Ways to Wear White Pants

Jun 10, 2026

I am in such a rut with my clothes right now. I get up in the morning, throw on my school drop off clothes and then…maybe I change at lunch. Maybe I don’t. I need to spend an hour this week making a few outfits so that I don’t have to think about getting ready. Here are some ways I’ll be styling my white linen pants this week.

The Pants. Spanx has the best white pants. They just do. They have a huge selection of styles and materials. I bought their pleated wide legs, and I love them. They’re the best. They run up to 3X and come in petite and tall.

Spanx sent me their linen pants in a similar style, and they’re a relaxed work or weekend option. I liked the material so much that I bought the shorts in white for a breezier option. As to how you keep linen from wrinkling, you don’t. It’s a hard thing to accept, but it’s life. Making sure the pants aren’t tight will keep the wrinkles down. I buy a size up and take in the waist. It’s a $29 alteration at Nordstrom.

Monday needs a real shirt. Period. No t-shirt. No sweatshirt. It can be semi-casual but it needs a collar. This MM LaFleur top comes with a breezy lace, in your choice of white or black. It has a pretty, feminine vibe that is still work appropriate. I also like this 3-D dot shirt from WHBM with a similar vibe.

I wanted to keep the look summery, so I chose a sandal, a stacked bangle, and a straw bag. If you want to make it friendlier for a professional office, I recommend a woven flat, a cuff (bangles make noise), and a larger tote bag in straw.

For the styling, Monday is my no wash day. It just saves me a few minutes in the morning. So I like a messy chignon at the neck. And for the makeup, I need so much under eye corrector to look alive on Monday, I should buy it by the truckload.

Wednesday. This is our full weekday, professional look. It needs a blazer, and the mix of white and olive is crisp, a little summery, but still professional. This cutaway jacket from Boden hits all the right notes. Other sophisticated color palettes here could be chocolate brown and rust.

As for what to wear under a top like this, it depends on whether you might need to take it off. If that’s the case, a silk shell with wide straps is the answer. If not, I usually just wear a bra. Because, I like to live dangerously.

I went back and forth on what shoes I wanted. My heart wanted tortoise heels, but the contrast felt a little too powerful. So I went with these snakeskin pumps instead. They’re a softer color palette for spring/summer. The trouble is, you need to change all of the accessories to grey in order to make them work — a grey tote bag, two tone earrings to bring in the silver. For me, I would still probably choose tortoise to warm it all up, or I would wear a white shoe to seamlessly blend and hit brown accessories. Two paths to the same result, one grey and cooler, one brown and warmer.

For the styling, I like hair down for this, it relaxes the look. I also recommend a brown eyeliner to give definition without adding to the harshness with black.

Friday. Ah, my favorite shirt from Tuckernuck. It’s relaxed, but it’s a real shirt. It’s comfortable to wear (so soft). And it’s a dream to wear.

For this look, I wanted a casual look. Something that said, “I tried to get dressed, but I didn’t have time to wash my hair.” So I grabbed this brown Chord ball cap. Still the best ball cap. Fits the head well, doesn’t itch my forehead. I chose the espresso linen because it matches my hair.

I also added a mesh sneaker. It’s breezy and summery, but still a real shoe (in case you need orthotics, who doesn’t these days?). I added this woven bag from Madewell, which matches the hat to create some outfit cohesion. The drop on this bag is really generous, so you could probably shove a baguette in here and still have arm room. And I finished it with these nap earrings from Maison Miru.

For makeup, I am probably just wearing corrector and filled brows on a Friday, unless I’m in the office or have a Zoom. I would probably curl the hair into loose barrel curls to give the hat some help. A ball cap never hurt anyone, but if you’re gonna wear your hair down, make sure the ends look good.

You first turned me onto the Chord hats and my wallet is not happy with you or me. Gosh, I love how they fit my small head without the brim taking me over and making me look silly. And linen for summer! Oh gee… I’m smitten.
