Finding a well-fitting pair of shorts, a pair that you feel comfortable in, a pair that fit well and look good, isn’t easy. I bought a pair of Spanx shorts last summer, and I’ve never looked back.
These twill shorts from Spanx are fantastic for all your summer events. They have a 5″ inseam, so they’re short without being too short. They have functional front pockets with a hidden zipper so that the pockets lay flat. And unlike so many twill shorts, these have a more flexible fabric so you can move easily in them.
Four colors are available. Sizes run from XS to 3X. They do run a bit small. I sized up for comfort. And if you’re concerned they’ll be tight (because they’re Spanx), the compression is really more like shaping and is very light.
Need a short that isn’t so structured? These Sarka shorts from Varley come in a softer, silkier fabric. They also have an elastic waistband to make them more comfortable. They’re basically my “long car ride” shorts.
