What I Bought at the J.Crew Sale

Apr 16, 2025

I cleaned out my closet this week of everything that doesn’t fit, and I don’t want to talk about it. But it did give me the opportunity to do some soul searching about what pieces would augment what I already have without breaking the bank.

Luckily, J.Crew is hosting a spring sale event. The retailer is offering 40% off site-wide until 4/21, and 50%off shorts & tees. Plus, starting 4/18, shop 50% off select swim styles. Here are the handful of things that I bought, and how I intend to wear them with pieces I already have.

I don’t usually choose sleeveless dresses, but this fitted shirtdress was so chic and under-$100, I couldn’t resist. I plan to wear it to work underneath a collarless sweater jacket. I also plan to wear it on the weekends with a slim sneaker.

This Irish linen shirt has a great cut, with a sleeve that gives some arm coverage but is still breezy. The shirt comes in eight colors. I bought the dark chocolate because it’ll look elegant with a pair of white or black pants. It’ll also tuck into a denim short.

This raffia clutch with leather trim is the perfect thing to replace the cork clutch that I have carried on every summer vacation and to every casual wedding since 2008. It’s just as fantastic in person as the photos. It’s fantastic.

This rib short sleeve t-shirt and the matching cardigan will pair well with the black shorts I already own. I also plan to wear the cardigan buttoned up under my black blazer. I’ll also tuck the tee into a black pleated midi skirt.

I just sized up in pants. I’ll be 44 shortly and even though I’ve only gained about 4 pounds, it made all the difference. I fought it too hard and long, and I’d rather drink wine….although I do also blame part of it on perimenopause…anyway, all that to say I am enjoying the new size of my pants and the fact that they are not squeezing me to death. But it took me awhile to get here.

Now that tax season is (mostly) over it’s time for spring cleaning and honestly, ugh. But some crisp stripes will definitely spruce things up.
