It’s easy to fall into a fashion rut, especially in the winter. I wear an incredible amount of ivory, black and navy during the colder months. So lately, I’ve been hunting for new color combinations. Here are three that caught my attention.
Pale Blue & Burgundy // This is a fresh combination that brings a moodiness you winter wardrobe. I chose this White Company coat, which is the perfect mix of blue and grey. A coat that was more sky blue and less muted wouldn’t feel as elegant. I also chose this affordable Gap sweater for it’s slightly redder burgundy hue.
Looking for another option? This H&M blouse in pale blue with a pair of burgundy trousers from Quince is great look.
Rust & Blush // I love this color combination for fall, but it works well in winter as well. The warmth of it is really fantastic. The cardigan comes from Everlane and is perfectly chunky and relaxed. I paired it with this rust-colored tee from Banana Republic. For a fantastic work outfit, try this rust wrap dress from Nordstrom with a pair of tan boots.
Chocolate & Grey // Dark brown is a great alternative to black and navy. These chocolate pants from Ann Taylor come in one of my favorite styles. The side zip on the pant gives you a completely smooth front. The pants also come in petite. I paired them with this very unique, textured sweater from J.Crew.
Reversing this look is easy. This pleated blouse from Ann Taylor comes in the same rich chocolate. Pair it with a pale gray pant and blazer for a professional look.
If you have any chic color palettes that serve you well during the winter months, drop them in the comments. I’m always looking for more suggestions.

I have olive green pants and a dark plum blouse that I would never have thought to wear together until I saw a picture of Kate Middleton in almost the same combination, and now it’s one of my favorite pairings.
Tobacco with Navy/Black/ Light Gray. Moss Green/ Chocolate Brown with Blush
I always loved a cool red (one with bluer undertones) and gray together. My favorite outfit from high school was a red ribbed turtleneck from Gap with gray flannel trousers from Old Navy. More than 20 years later, that color combo still does it for me.
I really love this post! Great ideas. I’ve been leaning into all-gray and dark browns this year, but you’ve inspired me to add some blues.
