The Find: The Perfect Spring Bag

Mar 9, 2023

Since Sloane was born, my wardrobe has consisted of leggings , pajamas and business suits with not a lot of in-between.  I get dressed for work but struggle to get dressed for weekend events.  So as I was shopping for some elevated casual options, I spotted a bag that injects a dose of style into your weekend wardrobe.  It’s also under-$100.  Praise be.

This canvas bucket bag with leather trim from Mango looks like a designer piece, but costs less than $90 after tax. Whether you’re wearing a t-shirt and jeans or a flirty spring dress (this one is sublime), this bag gives any outfit a boost.

I bought this bag the instant I saw it.  I’ve carried it twice, and both times, women have stopped me to ask who made it.  The great thing about this bag is that it has an impossibly chic look that’s also easy and relaxed.  So whether you’re sidewalk strutting on your way to brunch or walking your toddler to school, this is a bag that works.

And stay tuned while I try to put a casual wardrobe together, because once it’s too warm to wear my favorite sweater, I’m basically out of ideas.

The trim is faux leather ( polyurethane)I have an Oroton that’s 30 years old that similar, leather trim and still looks great.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
