The Four Best: Blazers for Spring

Mar 9, 2023

I know, I know. I just said I need more casual clothes, but I spend most of my life at work, so I still need to refresh some items for spring.  Here are some blazers that caught my eye.

This Belted Blazer from Karen Millen is just the best.  The clean lines, the notched collar, the wide belt, everything says boardroom chic.  Add the matching pants, and you have a suit for under-$200.  Some sizes are sold out, but the suit comes in four colors, so you should be able to find a combination that works for you.

Nordstrom offers a similar belted blazer in a berry color.  This affordable blazer from the Amazon Drop is also a great option.  This simple black blazer is also a nice option.  This straight size NY&Co blazer runs up to 2XL, and this plus-size blue blazer from ASOS is also worth a look.

A Bright Blazer is a nice option for spring.  I like this affordable NY&Co. blazer in coral.  You can dress it up over a neutral sheath dress or dress it down with light-wash denim and a graphic tee.  Looking for a different color?  This deep raspberry blazer is also a nice option.  This red blazer from 1.State is sublime.  Or snap up this green boyfriend blazer from Nordstrom.

A Sweater Blazer in a black and white color way is an instant classic.  This Express sweater blazer with buttons to give it a little something extra is fantastic.  This belted cardigan style in a plaid knit has a more modern, hipster look to it.  I also like this blue knit blazer with light blue trim, in case you need a little color in your wardrobe.

Looking for a more traditional sweater blazer?  J.Crew’s contrast trim sweater blazer is worth a look.  And the J.Crew Juliette is still a staple for me.

Military Blazers with dramatic buttons, stand collars, and shoulder details are everywhere this season.  I spotted this Rag & Bone blazer in Nordstrom last week, and it is the perfect mix of work and weekend.  I know some of you don’t like to refer to an item of clothing as an investment, but this blazer will be wearable and chic for decades if you look after it.  ALC also has a traditional blazer shape with the same button details.

Need something more affordable? This plaid Nic + Zoe blazer has a similar stand collar.  Their Editor blazer also has some of the same button details for a decent price.  And J.Crew’s inclusively sized Regent blazer has a similar popped collar style.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
