Great Finds Under-$100: The Poplin Shirt

Oct 27, 2021

At some point this year, I developed a work-from-home uniform: leggings and an oversized button-up shirt.  The collar kept things professional on Zoom, but the look was comfortable and relaxed.  And if I needed to run out quickly for a meeting, I could simply put on a skirt and a blazer.

This poplin shirt from Banana Republic is an incredible option for work from home wear.  It’s oversized, but not too big (I bought an XS instead of an S, and it’s perfect).  The length is great with a skinny pant of legging.  Sizing runs XXS to XXL, petite and tall.

I wear a racerback tank under mine (mostly so I can skip wearing a bra #sorrynotsorry).  But they can be worn without.

Looking for basic black or white?  Banana Republic also has those in stock.  Need something more fitted?  Land’s End has a tunic-length button-up in misses, petite, tall, and plus sizes that has that classic fit.

Here here to the no bra movement at home. That’s randomly become one of my favorite things about WFH. It’s also impacted what I wear on Zoom calls – I have loved the Abercrombie button-ups-very soft.

I literally love that it’s cold out now, just so I can get away with the no bra mentality everywhere. Maybe this is a conversation point on your next Monday Mask thing?

Agree with the no bra everywhere mentality! I turned 40 this summer and have decided that whenever I can, I will go braless. And if they hang a little south of where they should, too bad!

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
