Style + Tuesday Shoes Day

Tuesday Shoesday: A <$90 Rothy's Alternative

Recently, I decided I wanted a pair of Rothy’s loafers to wear with leggings and jeans this fall.  As you know, I love my Rothy’s.  My Points are six years old, and they have held up beautifully (not one rip or tear).  But $165 for a shoe is not in my budget right now.

Meet the Hathaway Flat from Bella Vita.  These shoes feature a knit upper and a synthetic sole.  They are padded with arch support (for those of you who find the Rothy’s tough to wear due to the flatness of the interior).  These are a durable flat that’s good for fall wear.

The shoes come in size 5-12.  They also come in medium, narrow, wide, and extra wide widths.  So these shoes are inclusively sized for nearly any foot.

The shoes are also available in four colors.  The navy is great with jeans.  The neutral pair is nice for summer.  The black and leopard work with anything.  So if you like the look of a knit loafer, but you need one for <$90, these are the shoes for you.

Excellent find – I clicked to see the brand’s other offerings and the dupe for point is $60! Sold.

You read my mind! I work in a school and it seems my old flats aren’t cutting it now that I’m back fully in person (as are students). Purchasing now! Thanks for the rec!

Are these machine washable like Rothy’s? Also, any thoughts on their Mireya flat (the pointed-toe one) compared to Rothy’s Points? I was looking through the Bella Vita options and saw that that style comes in wide widths and is <$60!

The inside is leather, so I have not washed them in the machine. But I did spot clean some tomato sauce off of the upper with a little OxiClean and water, came out easily.

This has been a go-to brand for me for years as I have wide feet and they have true wides in many styles.

Thanks for sharing! I heavily rely on Rothy’s being machine washable, since D.C. weather is unpredictable and they still look great after a wash, so the Bella Vita ones might be good weather shoes only to rotate in.

I have extra wide feet so I’ve been wearing Bella Vita for years and they go on great sale at Macys! I often snag shoes for under $25 there, when I am patient and check in on it.
