The Find: A Cool, Casual Fall Coat

Sep 16, 2021

Finding a cool coat that can be worn with athleisure attire isn’t always easy, especially if you want something with a little length to it.  So when I spotted this coat from Daily Ritual, I snapped it up immediately.

This Daily Ritual Women’s Quilted Coat is special.  The quilted texture, the oversized collar, the longer length.  It’s the perfect thing to wear on the sidelines while your kid is on the soccer pitch, or on a walk home from the gym on a chilly day.

The coat comes in five colors, the dark caramel and the deep green are nice.  And it runs in sizes XS to XXL, which in their size chart is 0-22.

This coat is a great piece that isn’t too heavy, but has a cozy vibe about it.  And that dramatic collar keeps it modern and cool.

Coat looks gorgeous! Would love your thoughts on sizing, since some of the reviews seem to indicate size down, while others state stick with your regular size.

I finally parted with my (oof) 12 year old parka. Living in Chicago and on the Hunt for a heavy duty replacement. Any sense how warm it is? Any suggestions for a good warm winter coat?

    • Belle says:

Not a winter coat, not for Chicago.

    • Rachel says:

Chicagoan here – I love my down coat from LL Bean! I grew up in the Midatlantic and was terrified of Chicago winters. I got the LL Bean Ultrawarm Coat in the thigh length and I’m literally never cold in it. It’s not the most stlyish on the market, but it’s moderately priced and is perfect for waiting outside for the L during the morning commute. It’s also lasted me five winters and counting with no signs of wear.

  3. Michelle says:

I’d love a coat post soon! I have a beautiful Ralph Lauren formal coat, and a warm puffy coat, but for warmer cold weather I just wear sweatshirts since I haven’t replaced my casual wool coat.

  4. Suz says:

I’m overwhelmed with the number of unknown brands available on Amazon. I have come to trust Daily Ritual but when their items are out of stock, I don’t know if the other options are worth considering.

    • Kaitlyn says:

Honestly I have had very bad experience with Daily Ritual. Feels so cheap. I stay away from clothing shopping on Amazon.

      • Belle says:

I’ve had pieces where I didn’t think the quality was good, and other where the quality and durability are better than something 3x the price. It’s am easter egg hunt, but when you find the good thing it’s worth it.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
