The Find: The Perfect T-shirt Dress

Mar 15, 2021

The weather in Montana is warming, and it has me dreaming of days spent in t-shirt dresses and sandals.  So when I find a perfectly styled dress that is comfortable and affordable, I buy two.  This is such a dress.

I told you it was good.  There is nothing as good as a great basic.

This Vintage Striped Midi Dress has the relaxed shift shape and the side slits, which are stylish and keep you cool in the summer.  It also comes in a pretty coral that just exudes sunshine.  The dress also comes in petite and tall.

Not feeling the stripes?  The dress also comes in a pretty neutral tie-dye.  For solids, it comes in basic black, warm hickory and grey.  Plus-size?  They make this dress in a tie-dye stripe.

    Just ordered. Can’t wait!

How does this dress look if you have a little stomach pooch? I struggle with t-shirt dresses because of my stomach and I don’t like how much it shows in a lot of these types of dresses.

I wear these Spanx high waist briefs. The lace keeps them undetectable, the high waist smooths things out. It doesn’t constrict, just smooth. https://amzn.to/3tuxcSB

My own stomach pooch expanded this year and I realized Old Navy’s swing dresses are a little more forgiving than the t-shirt style. They even have one in this same black and white stripe!
The style Abra shared is more on-trend, but I personally feel more confident in a looser fit across my stomach and hips. I add a denim jacket or stretchy belt if I want some shape (both amazing suggestions from this blog!) but usually just wear it free-flowing and comfy.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
