The Find: A Reader Favorite Jacket

Dec 21, 2020

Last week, we talked about my favorite purchases of 2020.  This week, let’s talk about the pieces that you loved enough to purchase.  And let’s start with a coat that is so warm, I can actually walk my dogs in the winter, in Montana.

This Amazon Essentials puffer coat fell into my life by accident.  It wasn’t really my style, and I was pretty sure that I would never wear it.  But one day, it was freezing and raining, and I put it on as an option of last resort.  I was so warm, I couldn’t believe it.

The coat is under-$60.  It comes in 10 colors.  And it runs XS to XXL.

Walking the dogs, running errands, catching a sanity stroll, this is the best jacket I have ever owned for being outside without shivering.

Question: what items that you have been considering for some time do you think will be available at a sufficiently lower price after Christmas this year low that you might buy one? I’m thinking larger purchases (major appliances etc), but would be interested in thoughts about anything. Thanks!

Thank you! I bought this jacket per your recommendation Abra. I live in NYC and it’s cold here though not Montana-cold. I’m still struggling to find warm leggings to go with this.

Living in Minnesota, I can relate to cold conditions! How are the pockets and is the shape OK (low expectations –just don’t want to look like a bubble)? At this great price, it’s worth a try. Thank you for the rec.

I also live in MN and have this coat. It’s great! Exactly as Abra describes. Not for our -40 temps. I use my full length coats for that but amazing for those -5 to 35 degree days.

I bought it per recommendations on this blog and it is definitely happily warm!

I found the pockets are a bit shallower than I’d prefer – but not problematically so. I’m using it as the perfect dog walking and casual coat.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
