The Find: A Summery Top for Zoom

Jun 24, 2020

Zoom. It’s become a four-letter word for most of us.  Whether you love it or hate it, the video-conferencing app is changing our workplaces in profound ways.  Years spent learning how to dress well for the office has morphed into learning how to dress well from the elbows up.

This puff-sleeve wrap top from & Other Stories might be the prettiest blouse ever.  The gorgeous, understated floral, the summery lilac shade, and the flattering v-neck are really fab.  It’s the kind of blouse that feels dressy without being dressy.  And it’s under-$60, which is just the cherry on top.

Other wrap tops with statement-making sleeves include this Michael Kors blouse on deep discount and this similar top from & Other Stories in green.  I also like the oversized watercolor floral print on this Gibson blouse.

Plus-size?  Try this Ava & Viv top or this black-and-white Modcloth top.

I love this suggestion and have something similar. I always stuggle with the right bottom for it. In cooler weather I’ll go for jeans. Any suggestions or could you do a two ways post with this…

Pretty top! What would you wear on the bottom?

White jeans or white linen pants. I might also wear a navy chino or a jersey pencil skirt. If you want to tuck it in, you could do a fuller, more a-line skirt.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
