Happy Hour: My Go-To ‘Quarantini’

Apr 17, 2020

One of my favorite cocktails is the Italian Greyhound, but the ingredients list is incompatible with our current predicament.  So last weekend, I decided to recreate it with just two ingredients.

What makes an Italian Greyhound so delicious is the combination of grapefruit and orange flavors.  Usually, the orange flavor comes from Aperol, but we don’t usually stock Aperol.  So I decided to re-engineer this cocktail.

Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka is my favorite spirit.  In the summer, I mix it with seltzer and lime.  We typically have a bottle on hand, so I used that for my grapefruit flavor.

To get the deep orange flavor and the refreshing fizz, I used San Pelligrino Aranciata soda.  Just pour the two over ice, and enjoy.

With the state governments extending the isolation periods into May, it’s likely to be a relaxed summer around here.  So I wanted to snap up this Daily Ritual jersey maxi dress because it was one of my favorite pieces last summer.  It’s comfortable, breezy, and appropriate for a number of occasions.  Plus, it’s <$30.

For working from home, I would add a long cardigan and a pair of simple earrings.  For relaxed drinks on the patio, I would add my favorite olive utility jacket, turn up the cuffs, and add a pair of large hoops.  For a dinner out with friends, a leather jacket and a great eye pencil would be a nice add.

The Italian Greyhound “Quarantini” looks delicious-thank you for sharing.

This dress is very tempting. I think we are about the same size (I’m a 6 in mall brands). Did you buy the small or medium? I’d like to be able to wear it to my very casual office whenever that happens again.

What do you wear under the t-shirt maxi dress? I often feel like these styles require something to smooth my tummy which inevitably takes away from the easy, breezy vibe I want.

A seamless boy leg brief or boy short is my go to for knit summer dresses. Avoid panty lines creating extra bumps/ripples but not sacrifice comfort.

    • Belle says:

Spanx makes a very comfortable high rise brief that could work.

OK, I AM TRYING THAT COCKTAIL TOMORROW! I JUST RESEARCHED AND THAT VODKA IS AVAILABLE WALKING DISTANCE FROM MY HOME 🙂

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
