What day is it? I must ask myself this question ten times per day. Everything is starting to run together. An at some point, around day 21 of self isolation, I developed a uniform. I didn’t realize it until Kyle asked, “How many of that sweater do you have?”
The answer is three.
The Morandi Sweater from MM. LaFleur has long been one of my favorites. In law school, it was the only way to stay warm in the chilly lecture halls. And now, sitting in my chilly office, staring into my web-cam for hours on end, it still has my back.
This week, I wore it with a tie neck blouse and a pair of black jeans. I also wore it with a pair of joggers and a striped tee. And last night, during another all-nighters, I wore it over my pajamas.
I write about a lot of different products and styles on this blog, but the Morandi is one of the rare pieces that is still being worn five years after purchase. And, for as long as this pandemic lasts, worn frequently.

do you mind sharing what size you are in this sweater? I’m kind of in between the sizes 2, 4 and 6 based on chest, waist and hip measurements and because it is definitely not cheap, it’d be helpful to get a better idea.
Jess I’m a 4-6 at usual suspects (Banana, Ann Taylor etc) and I wear an XS/S. I get about the same maybe slightly less overlap as in the photo. But it sits properly on my shoulders.
It is also my WFH uniform after 3 days
The XS/S. Size 6.
Thanks Belle and Katel! I have decided to make this my post quarantine purchase assuming that my family makes it through without any issues job wise. (Much as I’d love to still pull the trigger because let’s face it, here in MN it’s still cold and we start a shelter in place tomorrow at midnight…)
Love this and want to order. how does sizing work? What do you prefer?
I’m a size 6, XS/S is just fine.
I love this but for those of us tightening our budgets for the foreseeable future – could you share similar sweaters at lower price points? Love all your posts. Thanks for continuing to make enjoyable content that isn’t tone-deag for when we all need a break from the news <3
There was a cheaper version of the Morandi available at the start of winter, but I can’t find it now.
The Thursday post is going to continue to be an over $150 item, but I’ll include cheaper versions when I can.
I ALSO have this sweater in three colors! It’s the most comfortable thing out there and surprisingly chic on Zoom. And machine washable, which is key for me.
I second this! I have one in oatmeal and one in charcoal, and yes, they got some wear this week. My oatmeal one is probably four years old, the charcoal two. They are like wearing a hug.
Any suggestions for a Morandi sweater substitute that is not wool? Even over other clothes, wool is still itchy for me.
