The Find: Solid Gold Baubles

Feb 13, 2020

At some point in the last decade, the quality of clothing and jewelry went downhill.  Even big-time designers are making their dresses with polyblend.  And finding an affordable (or at least semi-affordable) piece of jewelry in pure metal, forget about it.

Or maybe miracles do happen…

I was cruising the Baublebar New Arrivals section when I thought I read the words “solid gold.”  I paused, thinking my eyes must be deceiving me.  No one makes solid gold jewelry anymore.

But there she was, this dainty little solid 14k gold ring for just $75.  A quick search revealed several more solid gold pieces.  I am obsessed with this perfectly on-trend Hera chain necklace.  It’s a must.  And to breathe some new life into my earring game, these Chiara Huggie hoops.

I know yellow gold isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so I went hunting for someone making solid sterling silver pieces.  I found Katie Belle.  The simplicity of her Lena pendant makes it a great choice for any silver lover.

The Hera necklace you linked is not solid gold, just cleverly described. The description says it’s a “solid gold palette” (i.e., solid gold colored), and the product details say the materials are brass with gold plating.

Your ring is the real deal though. Enjoy!

Thanks for finding these! I’m always on the lookout for quality, simple jewelry. Have you checked out Mejuri? Their ads popped up in my FB newsfeed a lot and I finally ordered a necklace. It’s a small gold necklace and is perfect for everyday wear. I might check out their earrings and rings now too..

I have Mejuri earrings and I love them! I’m really sensitive to nickel, so can only wear solid gold, which as Abra said is getting harder to find at a reasonable price point. I have three pairs and am eyeing some others. I like how classic the majority of their pieces are.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
