The Find: The Maggy London Dress

Sep 24, 2019

This is the third time I have put up this tie neck dress.  The last two times that I shared it, we sold it out.  So why am I sharing it again?  Because 1) there’s a new color (and it’s gorgeous), and 2) the dress is under-$40 but doesn’t feel like fast fashion.

Seriously, how good is that emerald-teal green?  This Maggy London Tie Neck Scuba Dress is one that I would easily buy again.  I purchased one during the legislative session and wore it at least once per week.

I like the look best with a collarless crewneck blazer.  It really shows off the neckline, and dresses up the look.

Plus-size?  Maggy London makes a similar dress in short sleeve and another in sleeveless, sadly, neither are on sale.

Belle, I think you have mentioned that you’re pear shaped. Did you have to get this dress altered? I think it’s beautiful but usually avoid sheath-type dresses since I feel like my shape doesn’t work with them.

    • Belle says:

I didn’t, but I was wearing the Spanx tights with it. The waist was in a good place for me, so it minimized the need for alterations.

    • Jenna says:

I consider myself pear shaped and I’m wearing this dress right now. A great find!

    • Marie says:

I will say, I’m pear shaped and ordered this dress–it didn’t *quite* fit right, but for me, the issue was where the waist hit. It’s too high for my long torso, and that causes an odd puffy area of extra fabric right around my midsection. So be aware of that, depending on your torso size. I don’t think it would affect a straighter body type in the same way.

  2. Crystal says:

I love the cut of this dress, but IMO the material is a bit thin — I caught a look at myself in strong sunlight and was concerned about how well people could see my body/undergarments. I haven’t worn it since. Maybe I’d feel more comfortable in the fall with jackets and tights.

  3. kk says:

I think this is cute but in a really flight attendant kind of way?

  4. Rh says:

Did you machine wash as it (supposedly) says you can do or dry clean?

  5. E says:

Finally pulled the trigger on this – here’s hoping!

  6. SC says:

I have this dress pinned on my RTW inspiration board for knockffs I want to sew.
I even found a gorgeous deep royal blue suiting fabric for it!

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
