The Find: A Magnet for Compliments

Jun 21, 2019

Every time I wear my yellow Madewell dress, people stop to tell me how nice it looks.  Last week, I wore it to drinks with Kyle, and he mentioned that he has never seen people check out what I’m wearing as often as they do with this dress.  And now it’s on sale.

This Ikat Floral Maxi Dress is currently on sale for $89.  Use code DOUBLEYAY to save another 20%.

This dress runs sizes XX-Small to XX-Large.  I’m 5’7″, and it hangs to my ankles, like on the model.

The dress has one small flaw, however.  The tie for the wrap part of the dress is thin, and doesn’t stay as tightly cinched as I would like.  I solved this problem by adding a snap near the place where the dress cinches for extra security.

If the maxi isn’t your preferred style, this material also comes in a midi-length sundress.

The color of this dress is beautiful, eye catching and perfect for the first day of summer.  It feels so much fancier and cooler than any of my other “daily driver dresses.”  I wear it with these black sandals for a dress that can go to campaign meetings and then to drinks, maybe even to a wedding.

so jealous – I’m blonde and my skin/hair combo does NOT work with yellow. It’s a gorgeous dress!

Gorgeous dress. I also struggle with whether I can pull off yellow. Brown hair, green eyes, I think yellow makes me look sallow. But maybe I should just go for it. 🙂

Same–when I wear yellow I look like my hair, skin, & outfit are one color. Cheers to those of you who can rock this dress!

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
