The Find: A Cool Day-to-Night Blazer

Apr 9, 2019

Yes, I said a day-to-night blazer.  Don’t give me that look.  Wait til you see it.

How fabulous is that lace detail on the blazer?  You know what’s more fabulous?  It’s detachable.  Work by day, party by night!

Oh, and did I mention the WHBM Lace-Trim Blazer is on sale for $78?  And it comes in petites?

Okay.  So how do you style it?

For work, add a slim fitting (but not skinny) pant for a sleek suit.  I like it with this graphic, black-and-white spotted blouse.  And a simple black pump.  Because when work gets complicated, the simplest outfits are the most reliable.

For drinks with friends, grab your favorite ripped jeans, a silk camisole, and leopard flats.  Add some red lipstick and textured waves (use this spray).  Voila, sexy, casual, chic.

For a date, grab this strapless popover dress from Likely.  Add a long, delicate chain necklace.  (Wear it down the front, or the back ala Jennifer Lawrence.)  Grab some simple heels in a flesh color, preferably sandals and a fun clutch.  Now add the blazer.

Can’t wear strapless?  Buy a black lace bra where a hint of lace and the straps can peek out of the dress. Think that would look terrible?  Dolce & Gabbana has made tops and dresses in this style several times.

Now, run don’t walk to pick up this blazer.  Because when is the next time you’ll find a work staple that you can wear to a cocktail party too?

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
