The Find: A Work-Cocktail Dress

Feb 28, 2019

We’ve all been there: You have a work conference attend and you need something to wear to cocktail hour.  It must be packable, fit beautifully, be easy, not fussy, and be work appropriate.  What if I told you that that dress could also cost you $30?

This Carmen Marc Valvo dress, from his diffusion line Carmen, is fantastic.  It has a sleek faux-wrap look, a cool clasp to accentuate the waist, and comes in three gorgeous colors (black, navy, red).  A simple, elegant dress for just $30.  I can hardly believe it myself.

To jazz it up for a cocktail hour, choose a cool (but not over the top) earring, a large, slouchy clutch and a simple sandal.  All done.

If you like this style, this dress is very similar to the Anne Klein faux wrap dress that Macy’s usually has in several colors/prints, and usually for around $40. I own it in several patterns and colors, and it is a classic!

Bought it for my conference in the UK. I bet it packs well! Thanks.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
