1) Five ways you’re driving your co-workers crazy. (Real Simple)

2) Ann Taylor is offer 60%-off sale items with code HURRY.  I picked up this sleek crossbody tote and this doubleweave sheath.

3) The American Women of ISIS: Who are they?  And what are they after? (Marie Claire)

4) Sole Society rolled out their spring/summer collection.  These lace-up gladiator sandals rock.  I also like this grey buckle weekender.

5) What middle-aged career reinvention looks like. (Fast Company)

6) This blush ASOS waterfall sheath is killing it.  This Warehouse belted vest dress is unique and on trend.  For a cocktail look, this Y.A.S. lace overlay dress is pretty.

7) A comprehensive guide to buying running shoes that actually fit. I like Brooks Running for their lightweight construction. (Outside Online)

8) Gigi’s python embossed pouches are a chic way to organize your bag (currently on sale at Saks).  Need something under-$50?  This Neiman Marcus scalloped pouch is pretty.

9) What’s the real gender pay gap? (The Washington Post)

10) Looking for an off the shoulder top that won’t break the bank?  This Madewell version caught my eye.

11) The real reason why he didn’t text you back. (Thought Catalog)

12) This Electra cocktail dress from Roland Mouret could stop traffic.

Liked the article on “Why he didn’t Text you back”. Searching for signs is by itself a sign that he’s not into it. Genius.

  2. Jennifer D says:

The article on middle-age career reinvention . . . awesome, and thank you for including it. Higher salaries as you age (and no, I’m not making $350K a year) are great, but they can be golden handcuffs. I’d love to hear from others reading the blog who changed the path they were on and what their experiences were. Did they make more or less $? Was the grass greener on the other side? Did they continue down the alternative path or come back to their original trajectory?

    • SN says:

I am 61 and just launched a business-immediately after I left my high paying job 2 years ago, where I felt I had peaked, with nowhere to go. My experiences so far have been wonderful. I have been making more than I made in my job and have built up a reserve that way. Im currently between contracts, but have several new ones pending, and am very happy to be an entrepreneur-it keeps me young and all sorts of interesting things are emerging from the void. My trajectory is an extension of the one I was on, but allows me to occupy new niches, continue to learn, and to try new things. I am way too young to retire and consider this my third career.

  3. Addie says:

I recently started working out 6 days a week and I developed knee pain not long after. I called my dad who’s in the orthopedic industry and he quickly figured out my shoes were the culprit. The Nikes I’d bought primarily because I liked the way they looked were fine for occasional light exercise, but they definitely weren’t suited for working out 6 days a week. So I went to the only New Balance store in DC and after talking to an employee about my needs, I left with two pairs of running shoes and orthotic insoles. The first time I worked out in them, I couldn’t believe how great I felt, and my knee pain disappeared after a couple more workouts in them

  4. s says:

omg – ann taylor’s sales are the best. too bad i’m broke right now lol. that yellow gingham tie-waist top is TDF (but sold out in my size)!!

  5. Shelley says:

Have you ever bought ASOS clothes? I wonder what the sizing is like since it is a British company? I see the sizes do say US next to them, and are they consistent. They have several beautiful dresses but I’ve been nervous to try them.

    • Mo says:

I size up even from where the US/UK conversion says (Petite 2 in Banana, 6-8 in Asos dresses) because I find most of their stuff very form-fitting for work.

    • Belle says:

I always size up. I’m almost never wrong. Sometimes on a less-fitted top, I’ll take my usual size, but dresses and bottoms, always up.

      • Shelley says:

Quality is good? So I usually wear a 10 in Banana Republic stuff- I guess that would mean I should take a 12?

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.
