Ask Belle: Long Wool Winter Coats

Nov 23, 2015

Hi Belle,

I love the short coats you just sent…but I need a long winter coat.  I would love a nice wool coat, but don’t want to pay more than $500.  Any good options that will last through several years?  Thanks!

Leah

$500 is a very healthy budget.  Even then, it may be difficult to find a 100% wool coat because many brands are cutting their natural fibers with the artificial stuff in the name of profit.  Here are some coats in the $200-$500 range that should fit your needs.

I tried on that BR coat recently. It’s a beautiful color but the opening on the neck comes very low. Almost like a blazer when buttoned up. It could just be my preference, but for cold weather, I prefer something that closes closer to the neck.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy a winter coat with less than 80% wool. I can usually find one for $250 or thereabouts. But it does take some looking.

Loooove, go for the Badgley Mischka!!
