1) A man in Detroit walked 21-miles to get to work every day for months after his car broke down.  A local college student started a GoFundMe account to raise money to buy him a car.  Instead of $5,000, he’s raised over $300,000.  The man now has a financial advisor and a lawyer to make sure the money is used wisely; he plans to keep working at the factory.

2) My Jeffrey Campbell heels (seen here) are the most comfortable pumps I own.  So I’m excited to try his Hough sandal and his Meridian heel.  Finger crossed.

3) Lennon & Maisy Stella are back with a lovely, soft cover of Charli XCX’s Boom Clap.

4) I’m still on the hunt for cool, dangly earrings. I love the muted green hue of these Vince Camuto drops.  But I think these $38 ‘stalactite’ chandeliers are the winners.

5) This gorgeous eye-makeup tutorial gives you an impactful, neutral look.  This basic palette from Urban Decay has all the shadows you need to get the job done.

6) Last night, I fell into the Target home section (hard).  This gorgeous geo-print pouf from Nate Berkus is chic and fun.  This mirror would be perfect for a foyer or over a bar.  And I am digging this grey, wire accent table.

7) My friend Virginia sent me this video of how the atelier at Christian Dior made their latest collection.  (I was fascinated by how pleated skirts are made.)

8) H&M is my go-to shop for trend pieces.  Right now, I’m obsessed with the snakeskin ankle boots.  This fitted coat in a charcoal melange is so chic.  And this sequin-embroidered skirt would look amazing with a slouchy tee and sleek black pump.

9) Recent court decisions may protect women from the scourge of ‘revenge porn’ websites.  Slow clap.

10) Piperlime may be closing, but they have some lovely pieces right now.  This slightly wacky laser cut skirt is fantastic. This semi-sheer skirt from Cynthia Vincent is a stunner.  I’m also loving this BCBG top with crisp lace and a frilled peplum.

11) Bonne Bell, the staple cosmetics company of my childhood, is shuttering.  Don’t worry, they were bought out by another company, so you can still get your Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker fix.

12) The Pamela Roland gown knocked my socks off.

Dear Belle – thank you for the quote/image. from the depths of this cold it truly brightened my day.

  2. Jenn S. says:

Oh dear heavens that explains why I temporarily could not find my beloved Dr Pepper lipsmacker. It feels silly typing it out, but seriously? Crisis.

  3. W says:

I’m slightly disturbed that now this financial adviser and lawyer are involved….he is a grown man, it’s one thing if he went and sought them out but it’s extremely infantalizing that people think he is not going to spend the money ‘wisely.’

    • LS says:

I work in the financial industry. Unfortunately, a huge portion of our country does not get a solid financial education. Most of us learn from our parents and/or our peers and when you don’t have that support, it can be really daunting to understand how our financial system works or how to make decisions that will benefit “future” you. I’m glad to see that he will have help.

  4. Kate M says:

W – normally I’d agree with you, but on the fundraiser page, the guy managing the fundraiser specifically noted in one of the updates that James Robertson asked to have help managing the money in the form of attorneys/financial advisers.

  5. Chelsea says:

My favorite for fun, dangly earrings is Kendra Scott. She has a great website, but her only stores are in Texas (but you can buy from Nordies and NM)!

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
