Ask Belle: Deep Conditioners for Parched Locks

Sep 15, 2014

Hi!

You tweeted the other night that you were deep conditioning your hair.  Which brand do you use?

Love the blog! Kel

Moving out of D.C. has been really tough on my hair.  The air is so dry out West that my ends are completely parched.  So unless I plan to cut off several inches of my hair, keeping my locks moisturized is important.

I’m using Pantene Pro-V Expert Collection Age Defy Hair Mask ($15).  It moisturizes without being greasy, but I’ll often wear my hair up the next day because it’s not as bouncy as usual.  But don’t forget to comb it through after you apply it or else it won’t work as well.

Aussie 3-Minute Miracle is also a good option.  And if you prefer a natural conditioner, try avocado, olive oil and coconut oil.

I’ve been using L’Oreal Oleo Therapy Deep Recovery Mask for a while and like it a lot. Sometimes I just use it quickly in the shower, sometimes I wrap my head in a Turbie Towel-type microfiber turban for a few hours or overnight. Pretty affordable, sulfate free.
