Who is ready for a tropical vacation? After my sixth hour trapped in the Minneapolis airport yesterday, I was ready to bribe my way onto a Puerto Rico bound flight (no passport, Aruba wasn’t an option). What I wouldn’t give for a sandy beach, a sunny afternoon and an umbrella drink. Luckily, I make one of those things myself at home…if I ever get home.
The bloggers at No Gluten, No Problem have a recipe for a great lime and coconut cocktail that I can’t wait to try. With vanilla rum, cream of coconut, lime and agave nectar, it’s the perfect complement to all my warm weather day dreams.
Ruffled Maillot from Express ($41)
This summer, I’m feeling a strapless one piece. No tan lines on the shoulders and some stomach coverage, I’ll take it. This suit from Express is lovely, as is this ruffle-free black one-piece. But my favorite one-piece on the market right now is this vintage-looking Tori Praver suit at Shopbop.
The thing I love about one-piece suits is that you can really pick your look. You can be sporty in this Roxy suit with a short bottom and high top. You can be sexy in plunging cut-out white. Or you can be classic and glamorous in this lovely black suit with neck tie.
I also love the two-piece suits from Express. This charcoal grey bandeau top is a good buy at $17, and I like this striped triangle top.
If you need cover-ups, I always go to discount sites. It’s insane what a cover-up costs at Nordstrom or Bloomingdale’s. 6pm.com and Zappos both have nice ones, but if you live by a TJ Maxx, I’d go there.
Plus-size? I like this ruched suit from Modcloth with a halter-style neck. Petite? This coral Shoshanna one-piece is super cute. Tall? Athleta had some swimwear in tall sizes for sale.
I live in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, and this is my favorite beach bar cocktail! It is so refreshing. Come visit us and get out of the cold. No passport needed. 😉
