Belle’s Weekly Favorites: February 12, 2014

Feb 12, 2014

rsz_screen_shot_2014-02-11_at_93518_pm1. Diamond Print Shirtdress ($60) // 2. Sarah Chloe Large Heartbeat Ring ($98) // 3. Jonathon Adler Dove Scarf ($98) // 4. Dean Davidson Spectrum Necklace ($165) // 5. Gap Classic Trench ($128) // 6. Earheart Sheer-Stripe Top ($375) // 7. Joie Edie Zip Tote ($368)

One.  Shirtdresses are a great option for casual Fridays during the spring and summer months.  I often remove the flimsy sash belt and replace it with this leather belt from J.Crew.

I love the simple diamond print on this dress from Gap.  I also found this DKNYC dress in black and white print, and this Vince Camuto dress with geometric print.  Plus-size?  This Coldwater Creek dress in a blue and white speckled print is gorgeous (also in misses).  Petite?  Have a look at this Laundry by Shelli Segal dress.

Two. I adore this heartbeat ring.  It’s so simple and so cool.  I also like Sarah Chloe’s Poppi ring in an argyle-inspired design.  Want something similar for less? Have a look at this Willow Infinity ring from Bauble Bar.

Three. This printed scarf from Jonathan Adler is so beautiful.  I love the color selection and the soft print.  I also found this navy and white scarf from Boden and this red and navy printed scarf from The Limited, both under-$50.

Four. I just loved this necklace.  It reminds me of an hourglass.  It’s such a clean, chic look.  Davidson also makes this beautiful lapis pendant.

Five. The trench is a must-have for me.  This Gap classic trench is a great choice in navy and khaki.  Like stripes?  Gap has a version for you.

On the subject of trench coats, I love the look of my J.Crew trench, but I can no longer recommend it.  It has begun to literally come apart at the seams.  Not thrilling given how much it cost.  J.Crew really needs to get their quality issues under control.

Six. I adore the sheer stripes on this top.  This Club Monaco top with long sleeve has a similar striped look for $69.  I also like this sheer sleeve sweater from LOFT in plum and black.  Looking for short sleeves?  Try this top from Trouve.

Seven.  Joie is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands, this tote is so chic, as is the coordinating pouch.  I adore this metallic banded flat sandal.  This leopard blouse has a great grey and white print.  But my favorite piece is this olive military-style jacket with sleek lines.

I would love to hear about your luck with the quality of Joie products. I too love Joie. And the quality at first seems pretty good, but I have had two items that did not last very long. And one item that has to be constantly dry cleaned because every drop of water I get on it turns into a stain. So now I’m very hesitant to buy any more.

I have not had good luck with their clothes. I actually sent a top back because it was so sheer, I wondered what I was paying for. But the shoes and the bags, I think are well made. I still prefer to grab them on sale, but my iPad case from there has held up really well.

Warning about the Gap trench – SIZE DOWN. I got my normal size and was swimming in it. Had to take it to the tailor.

  3. T says:

I got the JCrew Collection trench on a great sale last fall ($175ish down from nearly $400) and it has held up wonderfully. Might be a good choice if you aren’t ready for Burberry but want something with more structure than Gap.

Saw It On Social: Rooted

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
