1. Patagonia Women’s Jacket ($139) // 2. Alexis Bittar Cordova Bangle ($150) // 3. Theory Yulia Leather Front Sweater ($495) // 4. Bandolino Countless Boot ($149) // 5. Marlie Purse in Tweed ($248) // 6. All Saints Tonya Dress ($208) // 7. Gap Printed Flat ($50) // 8.  Black Perforated Faux Leather Skirt ($55)

This turn in the weather has me thinking about pieces I want for fall–cozy jackets, fall colors, leather and boots.  Lots of boots.  Here are few of the pieces that I have had on my mind.

One. This jacket provides the perfect lightweight warmth for October days and chilly September nights.  The pockets make this a great jacket for running errands, because with a small wallet like the J.Crew magic wallet, you won’t need to carry a purse.  I also like this Barbour polar quilt jacket, if you have a bit more money to spend.

Two. I cannot stop thinking about this pyrite bangle.  I love the gorgeous colors and the way the imperfections make the piece interesting and unique.  Mixing dark metals with yellow gold is a big trend in jewelry right now.  I love these delicate pyrite drops on sale at Gilt, and this C. Wonder Two-Tone Link Bracelet.

Three. Leather accents are a great look for fall.  I love this Theory sweater, but if you’re looking for something less expensive try this Sparkle & Fade sweater in black or this ASOS chunky sweater with leather accents on the sleeve.

Four. My cognac boots get so much wear in the winter that it verges on ridiculous.  Since Ciao Bella is out of business, and their Bluefly stock is selling out, I’ve been looking for a replacement.  (Salvation! Laura mentioned in the comments that Victoria’s Secret is now selling Ciao Bella boots. Awesome.)  I love these Bandolino’s and their simple strap detail.  I also found these plain cognac boots from Steve Madden, if you’re not feeling the strap.  Prefer a shorter boot? This Arzt boot from Aldo is worth a look.

Five. This tweed accented purse is delightful.  It has a bit of prim and rocker-chic all at the same time. If you like the tweed, check out this Foley + Corinna tote or this Clarie Vivier duffel.

Six. This raisin shade is so beautiful.  This dress would look amazing with black tights and a long black jacket or under a camel cardigan.  I also found this drape-neck Ralph Lauren dress in the same shade.

Seven.  Leopard flats are my second favorite fall shoe (after cognac boots) and this pair from the Gap is a great option.  I also like these similarly priced BP Moveover flats and these more expensive Michael Kors flats in a slightly lighter shade.

Eight. A leather skirt can be a versatile addition to any wardrobe.  This perforated skirt is more suited to off-hours, but this DvF Rita leather pencil skirt and this less expensive leather-trim skirt from Vince Camuto.  Try styling these pieces with softer blouses, like silk chiffon, or with super-soft cashmere sweaters.

Yes! Finally a cute leopard flat in size 11. My six month long quest is over. Thanks, Belle!

BEST boot ever..well, except my full quill ostrich (but those are a little too “Texas” for DC)

Belle- the Ciao bellas are on either Gilt or RueLaLa

Why the pointy toe on the flat?

  5. Laura says:

If you are mourning the loss of your Ciao Bella boots, I noticed that Victoria’s Secret (of all places) currently has the Ciao Bella Renee Riding Boot for sale, so you might be able to stock up.

  6. WW says:

I have trouble finding shoes for wide feet. Any suggestions, Belle?

  7. Sarah says:

How durable are the Ciao Bella boots? The only synthetic boots I owned only lasted about a year before they were pretty torn up.

    • Belle says:

Very. I wore mine 3-4 times a week for a while winter, the soles were still in great shape. I had to have the toes touched up though. And the soles, because they’re soft, will pick up little rocks from time to time, but that’s just an annoyance.

  8. Christina says:

The Bandolino boots unfortunately are not worth the price. I bough a pair last fall and by January they were falling apart. They are also not comfortable for daily city walking, even with insoles put in them. I had treated the leather and wasn’t wearing them in extreme weather as Tokyo’s winters aren’t terrible. I was extremely dissapointed in them and I definitely would not reccomend them.

  9. Lea says:

The Vince Camuto skirt is on sale for $40 btw; it’s been on my watch list!

There’s another similar raisin dress by Anne Klein (I think) at Marshall’s.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
