The Happy Hour: Mellow Yellow

Jun 18, 2010

I’m not much of a drinker because a) you can’t do a keg stand in a dress and b) I’m clumsy enough sober.  But I do enjoy a good cocktail.  Thus, I’ve decided to create a new post called the Happy Hour.

Each Friday, I will post a cocktail dress and the recipe of a corresponding libation. This week, I’m embracing the sunshine and Summer with a yellow hued dress of smooth silk and an effervescent cocktail that’s perfect for an evening on the patio.

Thakoon Draped Tie Dress (Net-a-Porter, $762)

The St. Germain Cocktail

2 Parts Brut Champagne

1.5 Parts St. Germain

2 Parts Club Soda or Sparkling Water

Fill a Tall Collins Glass with Ice.  Add champagne, and then St. Germain, then Club Soda.  Stir vigorously. Garnish with a lemon twist making sure to squeeze the essential oils into the glass.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
