Faux Pas: The "Summer Boot"

Mar 12, 2010

A reader forwarded me this photo.  When I opened the attachment, my screams could be heard for miles. What.the.hell.are.these?

Made by a company called Irregular Choice, these “summer boots” are definitely irregular.  Disgustingly irregular.  I’d love to do an in-depth analysis of their hideousness, but I can’t decide where to begin.  Do I start with the platform wedge, wooden clog combo or the tapestry straight jacket shaft? And…I’ve gone cross-eyed.

Easily the second most horrible shoe that I have ever seen.  Because the animal hoof-revolver high heels will never be dethroned.

Wow, these are gross. I’d rather see uggs or crocs, these bring to much attention to themselves. Ive discovered a lovely alternative to crocs that are pretty amazing . . . at least I think so. Ill post them on my site next week.

  2. Greta says:

They can be yours for only $248. And no I’m not kidding: https://www.freepeople.com/shoes-new-shoes/floral-slouch-clog/

The animal hoof revolver things were awesome. this is just gawd-awful. Like something an old hippe grandma on acid would make.

You know, I have to say these are WAY worse than the animal hoof/revolver high heels… because these are seriously meant to be worn. The revolver heels might be a statement piece that the designer knows will never catch, but… whoever came up with these seriously thinks they’re going to be the next Crocs.

The toes. Dear God, the toes. And the fabric. Please, kill me now.

funky? (in a quizzical kind of way…with right eyebrow raised)

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
