From Miss M With Love

Jan 26, 2010

I was thinking about buying this dress on eBay, so I started my customary pre-purchase Blackberry chat with Miss M.

Belle: Is it totally wrong that I love this dress?

Miss M: Well, it’s very different for you.

Belle: So you don’t like it?

Miss M: The way I see it, it’s like the Catholic Church’s policy toward gay parishioners.  You may have the feelings but we’ll ignore that if you promise not to act on those feelings.  So, you can like the butterfly outfit, but you’re forbidden to purchase it or wear it.  Ever.

Belle: Well, I guess I’ll be deleting it from the eBay list.

*Before some of you freak out, know that Miss M is a practicing Catholic who believes that people have the right to love whomever they choose. She was simply making a political/religious analogy to make sure that I understood the seriousness of the wrath that she would rain down upon me if I bought this dress.

I dont think anything is wrong with the dress. It’s just not that versatile.

  2. A says:

Great pattern…. I’d go for it if it were shorter and sleeveless.

  3. Ms. B says:

I don’t hate it. I agaree with A. It needs to be shorter. At least it doesn’t look like a grandma’s sofa. Not quite.

  4. Lou says:

It’s a bit dowdy, I agree with M. LOL at her analogy too.

  5. Belle says:

What I liked about it was a) the bright colors, b) the 1940s style fit and the fact that it looked a little like something Rita Hayworth would wear. But it could only be worn a handful of times.

  6. pqresident says:

the asymmetry of the top half bothers me.

  7. Erica says:

    too matronly

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
