Last night, I visited The Rack’s website to peruse the New Arrivals. 60-days post Anniversary Sale is usually the best time to shop. And the selection did not disappoint. Here

First Rule. Sort New Arrivals by size. This is paramount. The palpable disappointment I feel when I see the perfect thing in the wrong size. Devastating.
Second Rule. I filter out the cheapest pieces and the most expensive. I don’t need to spend $900+, but I also don’t need to sort through every pair of $8 socks.
Third Rule. Sort by the brands you love. Reiss has a deep bench of amazing pieces in limited sizes (see the First Rule). But this Reiss coat in a dark olive/khaki hue is perfect for fall winter and available in most sizes. I also like this floral blouse (though it’s a bit spring-y).
Other brands I searched: Barbour. Vince. Veronica Beard. Boss. Rag & Bone. Cole Haan.
Fourth Rule. Don’t overspend. You will want to overspend. I add all items to the cart, and then, remove items until I’m within my budget. Or, sometimes, I walk away for 15-minutes, come back and then sort. Too many good things on the shelves is both a blessing and a curse. The good news is that it’s Nordstrom, so you can return everything if you overdo it.

Abra for the win! I have been a Nordstrom Anniversary sale shopper for almost 15 years and have been a Nordstrom Rack shopper for about twice that, but I have never thought about *when* the Rack gets the good stuff in! Thank you – this is why your blog is one that I still look to, at 45, for good style and good sense!
GREAT TIPS! Thank you! So excited that I used them and just scored this $448 dress for just $38 and ready to be picked up at my local store tonight!!! https://www.nordstromrack.com/s/veronica-beard-tabby-belted-denim-shirtdress/8144795
