Tuesday Outfit: Teal for Fall

Sep 15, 2026

If you’re scared of color (I see you, Kelly), teal is a safe color. It’s a less bright alternative to cobalt. So if you don’t wear a lot of color, give peacock teal a try — it’s deep, it’s rich, and it goes with brown or black. Here’s an example.

LL Bean Turtleneck Sweater // Etsy Teal Leather Skirt // Loeffler Gia Knee High Boots // Ana Luisa Ball Earrings // Veronica Beard Bucket Bag

I’m going to make this quick because I’m solo-parenting this week, my four-year-old still needs a bath, and I have small puppy who seems to think standing on my laptop keyboard is the most effective way to get Mommy’s attention.

The all teal here is a showstopper. It’s not a neutral, but it’s not overwhelming either. If you like a leather or suede skirt — bring it into a fresher moment by choosing one that isn’t brown or black — this teal skirt is a fantastic option. If you want a non-pencil skirt, BR has one in forest pine. You could also try navy, pale blue (in plus) or burgundy.

Regarding the skirt, I would size up so that it didn’t fit me too tight, and I would pay the rather large fee (I’m guessing $100 to tailor leather) to take the waist and side seams in as needed. Leather is not a material that can fit a little tight. It either fits a little loose or it’s a sausage casing.

I chose this LL Bean sweater because I like the texture and it was a traditional turtleneck. If I was shopping for myself instead of a collage, I would have picked this Universal Standard sweater with a less dramatic collar (also in plus). Keep the teals as close as you can, and remember that undertone matters — is it more green, is it more blue? — that will keep it matching near perfectly.

Accessories are simple — cognac boots (these Loefflers are my favorite, ever) and a cognac bag. This bag from VB has a cool yellow inside liner that pops. If you want something a little more affordable or smaller, this Anthro bag is awesome, comes in a ton of colors. As for the earrings, these ones have impact but they’re subtle. Not to be missed.

Styling for me would involve hair up if it fell below my ears. Loose would be best or with some wave so it doesn’t look too uptight. I would also focus on contouring my cheeks and adding a bit of berry to the lips.

And that’s the outfit…have a nice day.
