Remember that green utility jacket that you wore every day in 2016? I hope you kept it. Utility jackets are back. Sadly, I pulled mine out of the mothballs and it was a size too small in the arms, fine in the body but a pre-school Mom needs full range of motion. So let’s look for some new styles.

LL Bean Utility Jacket ($110, petite and plus)
This is my ride or die chick. I had my prior jacket from 2016, wore it until 2023, still looks great today. But I need to size up.

Any opinions on waxed cotton jackets? After my last rain jacket started to disintegrate, I went looking for a new one and discovered the world of PFAS and PFAS-free options for water repelling outerwear. Not wanting to pollute the next generation’s water with whatever new substance GorTex is using instead of PFAS, I am turning to the centuries-old technology of waxed cotton jackets.
Same reason for me no longer purchasing new clothes made of polyester or polyester blends. Hopefully that means a few less microplastics in our drinking water.
I just bought my first Barbour waxed Beadnell jacket! I am excited to wear it!
