Sometimes, questions come in long e-mails or hits through the contact form. Other times, it’s a quick inquiry in the DMs, in the comments, or from family and friends via text. Today, I thought I would pull some of those shorter questions into one post for those who don’t read the comments, don’t follow me on Instagram, or don’t have the ability to reach out directly.
DM: What was that sun damage serum you use again?
Mother Science Hero Serum is the pick if you have hyperpigmentation, dark spots, or sun damage. It’s also the thing if you just want to brighten your skin. If you already use Vitamin C, this is your C-serum on a body building program.
Text: Who made your cute sweater dress?
Boden. And it’s on sale in the stripe. It’s the perfect pick for when you need a cool dress that is also comfy.
Text: My order of Innisfree masks was subject to a $200 tariff. Have you found them in the US?
No. Still no love from the Koreans on the sheet mask front. They are the greatest and it makes me sad. But you can buy the Innisfree Black Tea Serum stateside. I use it on its own, but you can also turn it into a mask if you buy sheets on Amazon.
Comment: Where do you find brown tights?
I mentioned in the post that I am wearing chocolate brown tights instead of skin tone hose, since the idea of sheer hose brings back memories of Senator Feinstein using a pencil eraser to check if female staff were bare-legged. So let’s talk about the ones I bought.
Someone convinced me to try the ones that were lined with skin tone fleece, but they looked utterly ridiculous, like I had legs made of Barbie plastic. I own both these semi-sheer ones and these slightly thicker ones that are cheaper, both are great.
DM: Favorite thing to do with Sloane on the weekend?
She and I have sleepovers. Sometimes she spends the whole night in my bed, and Kyle sleeps in the guest room. Sometimes, we just put on pajamas and read books and play a game in my bed. If we have a decent amount of time, we’ll watch a couple of episodes of a show and paint her fingers and toes. It’s nice because it’s an end of the day activity we both enjoy that I don’t need to go to the craft store for or drive to another location for.
Comment: It’s not cold enough in Seattle for a wool coat, but I need a waterproof one to walk the dog. What do you wear in Spokane?
This one from Varley. It’s big enough I can layer a fleece under it.
DM: Who made your new phone case?
I spotted the square-edged phone case from Flaunt on another influencer’s page and then was fed ad, after ad, after ad, until I bought one. I bought the tortoise shell case. Anecdotally, I find it easier to hold onto than the rounded edge case I had before.
DM: How are you adjusting to working in Olympia and living in Spokane?
It’s weird. I fly out on Sunday afternoon and back on Friday night. I pretty much hate not seeing Sloane every day, but it’s a short session. We’re 1/3 of the way through the 10 weeks, so ask me again in March whether this was a success or not. Sloane has adjusted somewhat, but discipline is less when Mommy is gone, and she’s like a velociraptor testing the fences.
