Magic. When someone asks me what I love about being a parent, it’s the quiet magic of it. It’s your three-year-old strolling into your bathroom in a pink tulle dress with gold sparkles and asking, “Mama, do you like my pretty dress?” It’s the way her eyes light up when the Christmas lights turn on. It’s how she giggles when she realizes that the beverage in her sippy cup is unexpectedly fizzy.
There is no end to the magic of the world when you are three, and getting to experience that in small bursts is the greatest joy. In these fractious and wayward times, it is often the only joy. But it is also enough.
