The Best Things I Bought in 2025, Pt. I

Nov 10, 2025

As we near the end of the year, I would like to spend some time discussing the things I purchased in 2025 that were worth it. Like, 10/10 would shop here again.

I’m shopping less in 2025 than I have in past years, and I’m really focused on my purchases living up to expectations. If I have even a moment’s hesitancy when a purchase comes out of the box, it goes back. Full stop. Things are simply too expensive now to accept mediocrity from brands and retailers that want my money. Here are a few things that met that bar.

+ Prequel Gleanser continues to be worth every penny. I have paid so much more to get less. When I say that this face wash has fixed my dry skin, I mean it. You can also buy it at Target.

+ This Theory a-line dress is the ultimate comfortable work dress. I hemmed it up a solid six inches, so it’s below-the-knee length. It looks great with boots. Size guide said I was a 10, it’s a hair big in the waist, but not enough to tailor it. Great for Thanksgiving or Christmas, awesome for work. $237 on final sale. Green is really dark and pretty.

+ If you like a cool button-down, this AYR popped collar Tate shirt is a must.

+ The Andie Malibu swimsuit is the gift that keeps on giving. I had to wear a swimsuit in November (which should be illegal), and it was a perfectly fine experience because I had this suit, which gives me a feeling as close to body neutrality as I can get at 43.

+ Speaking of gifts that keep on giving, these J.Crew pajamas. Originally purchased during pregnancy and five more times since in five more colors because IYKYK. Make a great gift.

+ I bought this Faherty striped Fisherman Sweater in March. I wore it on every chilly spring/summer day and at least once a week since September. It’s very comfortable, looks relaxed and cool, and packs beautifully.

+ Also, I’ve talked about these Faherty pants several times. I bought one pair. They gifted me one pair. They’re so comfortable. A great non-denim pant for work.

+ This weekend, I brought up this hand cream from Soft Services at a play date. Kyle literally groaned and said “Are we talking about lotion again?” Guess who’s getting coal for Christmas?

+ I rediscovered the Aveda Volumizing Hair Tonic I used in college, and let’s just say why I ever let this product go is a mystery to me. Light, touchable volume, no weird smell. Chef’s kiss.

+ This bra, which you can sometimes find at Nordstrom Rack if you’re willing to keep those eyes peeled.

+ My Chord baseball cap. Yes, the price is absurd, but I wore this more than anything else in my wardrobe this year. I bought the light denim (my fave) and the black nylon. I will admit, I would not buy the nylon again. But I just bought the glen plaid to wear with winter clothes at school drop off, and I am very happy with that one.

co-sign the Andie swimsuit, which I got on your recommendation. I vacation along for an annual work event for my husband at a resort with a pool, and while running into your partner’s coworkers in swimming attire should also be banned, this makes it ok.

For the Faherty sweater – does it fit true to size and/or shrink in the wash? I struggle deciding for sweaters like that if I want to go more slouchy or fitted.

Similar style to the sweater – you posted the Quince fisherman sweater a few weeks ago and I purchased it. I LOVE IT. Totally recommend for anyone looking for the same style in a lower price point!!

The Natori Feathers bra hasn’t been my favorite but I did just pick up their Pure Luxe Plunge bra to try it and I was rather shocked how much I liked it. Macy’s was recently running 40% off this style.

The link for the Andie swimsuit goes to the Ayr shirt website.

I’ve had my Andie swimsuit for a few years and it’s held up well to hot tubs, swimming pools, freshwater springs and ocean forays. It still looks great.

I was influenced by you, Abra, on the Chord baseball cap and love love love it! I reach for it all the time. My husband couldn’t believe how $$$ it was, but it’s my clear favorite and worthwhile.

For the soft services hand cream — do you get the unscented or the “hold” scent?
