Sometimes I see an outfit on Pinterest that isn’t right for me but sparks an idea. If you’re craving simple, chic outfits, this one is for you. I took a relaxed, semi-casual outfit and tailored it to my needs and my taste. Because a good idea just needs to be tweaked to fit your life.

The Pants // I love that these pants already have the belt built in. It looks polished and seamless. But the tan pants in the inspo photo are just too casual for me. I love a cropped pant, but not for my office.
Instead, I chose these ivory Ann Taylor pants. They’re tailored, fully lined and perfect for dressing up or down. Also in petite. Looking for other colors? CeCe has a black pant with a built in belt. H&M has a beige pant in a relaxed fabric. I also love this pair from LOFT that comes in a dark cacao.
The Shirt // You can find t-shirts that are appropriate for the office, but the one in the inspo photo is a little bland for me. I own this Mila top from Boden and it is phenomenal. Chic enough for stand alone wear, but comfortable and simple. It comes in several colors, and I recommend snapping one up. 10/10.
Looking for an elevated t-shirt style? Quince has a ponte top that gives that t-shirt look with a little more weight. This linen shirt from Kohl’s is also a fabulous option and comes in extended sizes.
The Shoes // A canvas espadrille belongs at a weekend barbecue or on a casual date, not at my law office. YMMV. But these Tuckernuck sandals in an embossed leather, with a fabulous buckle . . . get in my closet.
Need something more relaxed? These woven Madewell flats and these Rothy’s slingbacks are the way to go. Like the espadrilles? This J.Crew Factory pair are casual, and this Talbot’s pair are actually sleek, perfect for work.
The Jewelry // A long pendant is a great option for dressing up simple outfits. It has a little pop, but isn’t a complicated addition. This Soko pendant is one of my favorites. Need a less expensive pendant? This Amazon pendant is a steal for $12.
This box chain bracelet was gifted to me by Monica Vinader. I loved it so much that I bought the coordinating chain bracelet for my birthday. The box bracelet has an incredible weight to it. It also has a slick magnetic clasp so it would be almost impossible to lose. MV is my favorite jewelry brand because the pieces are well made and beautiful. I’ve bought pieces, and been gifted pieces, and given other pieces as gifts. It’s a great brand for women who love nice, quality, demi-fine and fine jewelry.
The Purse // A ring bag is a great weekend or wedding option for me, but it’s not right for days or work. Instead, I chose this Coach Brooklyn tote. It’s an awesome basic. Whether you need a mid-size bag or a bigger one, Coach has you covered.
To jazz up the basic purse, I added a scarf like in the inspo image. I wanted one with a more refined print to pair well with the sleeker, elegant pant. So this chain scarf from Amazon is the way to go.
The Styling // Easy makeup. Easy, natural hair. No reason to overthink it. I’m using my hot rollers (because why mess with a good thing?), and wearing my usual foundation and blush. This outfit is about elegant but easy.
