Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Twenty-Seven

This weekend, I posted an AMA on Instagram. I’ve also collected several dozen emails from readers seeking advice on fashion conundrums. So I’d like to start off by answering a few of the simpler questions first. Let’s go.

What lip color are you wearing most often right now? 

My lips have been very dry recently, probably due to being dehydrated, so I have been reaching for my Lip Oasis Glossy Treatment in Mirage when I need color and moisture.  It’s a great product.  Not sticky, not messy, wears off without looking half-done, and is easy to reapply.  You can grab it with a discount code (ABRA20) for 20-percent off.  

Full disclosure, the brand sent me the Dune color for free and I loved the product but not the shade on me (it was little too taupe), so I bought the Mirage, which is more of a berry, myself.

Self-tanner that isn’t going to turn me orange.

I no longer use traditional self-tanner.  I buy these Isle of Paradise drops and add them to my regular moisturizer.  The color is more subtle and it combines two steps so I can save time.  I do use a mitt to apply the product to save my hands from becoming stained and to get a really smooth application.

I buy the medium shade because I just want a subtle glow.  If I wanted to be TAN, I would buy the deep and just rinse off after 10-15 minutes to keep it from turning too dark.

This product does not stain my sheets as long as I give it an hour before bed to dry.  As for clothes, I will apply right after I get out of the shower and then get fully made up so it has some dry time.

Where do you shop for Sloane?

Old Navy.  Target.  Cotton On Kids.  H&M.  Her Dad insists on buying her Nike shoes, which I don’t always love because she grows so fast, but there are some cute ones.

When I want to go all out for a holiday, I usually buy Boden.  This strawberry dress is what she’s wearing for our tea party on my birthday.

What did you use to grow back your brows?

GrandeLash and prayer.

Hand wrinkles: what are we doing for that? Cuz also me.

After I apply my face serum, I apply the excess to my hands and wrists.  It seems to be helping.  I’m also using SPF on my hands every day.

How is Avery?

My soul-pup is enjoying her last months of fetch and walks and snuggles.  

Avery is slowly going blind, and she has Cushing’s disease along with diabetes, which is making treating her nearly impossible.  Every day I have spent with this dog has been a blessing to me.  I will be devastated when it’s time to let her go.  So we just do the best with what we have left, and continue to balance her current happiness with her long-term prognosis.  

I do not believe I will have another dog after her until it’s time for Sloane to have one.  As my parents, who lost their beloved Golden Retriever last year, keep saying: I can buy another dog, but I can’t buy another Dancer.
