Celebrity brands are a dime a dozen. I can drink Clooney’s tequila. I can use Blake’s shampoo. I can wear Jessica’s shoes. And I can get the perfect pout from Kylie. So another celebrity skincare brand was destined to disappoint, right?
Not if we’re talking about The Outset.

A few months ago, I mentioned that The Outset sent me a sample of the niacinamide night cream. I loved it. It was moisturizing, but not heavy. It was nourishing, but didn’t break me out. And at $54, I think it’s the best mid-price skincare product I’ve tried, and I love that they have subscribe and save, so I get a little discount and never run out.
I’ve been using it for six months, and I can see that my skin is brighter. The tone also feels more even. And I didn’t get my usual winter dryness, which was a gift. This isn’t a skincare line promising over night results or miracle cures, but over time, I have seen a change in my skin’s brightness.
Since the original post in October, there are two more products I want to talk about. One I bought, one Outset gifted me.
As a combination skin girlie, I love a good clay mask to keep my nose from becoming an oil slick. So when Outset asked if I wanted to try their detoxifying mask, I was like, “Yes, please.”
The Purifying Blue Clay Mask has blue clay, salicylic acid, and plant extracts. The mask calms down oil production and softens pores without drying out skin. This is big for me because a lot of clay masks actually do more harm than good by over-drying. But I don’t feel any tightness or roughness after using this mask.
My only criticism, and it’s a small one, is that I wish it came in a squeezable tube instead of a jar. I hate digging around in a jar for a product that doesn’t scoop easily. But maybe my bestie may be right, and I may need to start using the tiny product spatulas from Amazon. (It just feels like one more thing.)
As we discussed last month, I’ve started receiving a small amount of gifted product. And while I’ll take product that is freely offered when it aligns with this blog’s purpose and my taste, I don’t ask for product or solicit brands because that’s something my readers can’t do. So when I wanted to try their Lip Oasis glossy lip treatment, I ordered it with my refill of their night cream.
My lips are always dry. I am a chapstick addict. But I wanted something that was more like a lip gloss to wear with lip colors in the winter. So the Lip Oasis was perfect for that. The product is very hydrating, and it isn’t sticky. It looks absolutely fabulous with your favorite lipstick and you won’t find yourself desperate for chapstick halfway through the night. I also loved the applicator for getting good coverage.
After my last review, I gifted one of my friends — a woman with very sensitive skin — their regimen bundle, and she is obsessed. She said it’s the first skincare line she’s tried that had active ingredients but didn’t make her skin more red. So if you struggle with sensitive skin, I would look into the line.
As for myself, this is my go-to night cream now. I am very happy with the results and the price point. I even started applying it to the back of my hands to help keep that skin looking its best.
If I had found The Outset at Sephora, I am not sure I would have tried it. The Scarlett Johansson-founded line probably wouldn’t have drawn me in with its celebrity campaign. But I am really glad that I tried their product when they offered, because as I said above, I have tried a lot of mid-price skincare lines and this is the best one by a mile.
If you want to try The Outset, they offered me a discount for my readers. You can use code ABRA20 for 20% off your order.

Thx for the recommendation! How long does a jar of the night cream usually last for you?
Have you tried Molly Sims’ skincare line? Would be curious on your thoughts.
Are these products scented? The fragrances in everything I put on my face have been a dealbreaker for me lately.
I grabbed the night cream with your discount back in October and became a convert. I used to have to reapply moisturizer throughout the day to combat dryness, but after a few weeks with the night cream, my skin no longer feels tight. This winter has been the coldest we’ve seen in ages here in DC, so I used the night cream during the day a few times as a precaution, and my face didn’t react negatively to the 20-degree weather at all!
Forgot to add that the night cream is unscented and I only started to run out in mid-February.
I switched from a Vitamin C serum and separate HA serum to just The Outset’s Prep Serum last fall and am in love. I have extremely dry, sensitive skin and do not change around my routine. I live by a product until it is discontinued or stops working. I love that The Outset doesn’t irritate my skin, which happened sometimes with the Vitamin C serum. When I run out of my current night cream, I’m going to give this one a try!
Does this help reduce the appearance of wrinkles or have any other anti-aging benefits? Thanks!
The night cream has niacinamide will reduce fine lines and refine wrinkles with consistent use. I find my forehead lines are softer when I use it regularly.
