This weekend was spent in a hectic frenzy. Gone the previous two weekends for work, and leaving to visit family this week, I did nothing but laundry, cleaning, and trying to keep Sloane from harming herself due to her new fixation on pulling things down from high shelves. #toddlerlife But, yesterday, for 45-minutes, I did get in some quality Instagram scrolling.
If you don’t follow Sarah and Missy on Instagram, I highly recommend them. Recently, Sarah was talking about her love of anklets, and it reminded me of my own fondness for a thin, sparkly something worn around my ankle. On my hunt for a quality anklet, I found this Brook & York beaded option (top in the photo) and fell for its subtle and pretty design. I also love this tennis bracelet style option from Madewell. For something under-$30, this Pavoi double-chain anklet is worth a look.
The best part of a potluck barbecue is the side dishes. The trouble is so many of the preferred sides — potato salad, coleslaw, macaroni salad, etc. — are made with copious amounts of mayonnaise. For a healthier option, I love this Pearl Couscous Salad with crispy chickpeas. There are lots of vegetables and it feels light and delicious. Can’t find pearl couscous in your store? Try orzo instead.
Also, if you’re going to a housewarming this summer, make this salad in a large stoneware bowl, and leave the bowl and serving spoons behind as a gift.
I spotted this double cuff look on Pinterest a while back, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It’s such a chic way to jazz up simple basics. J.Crew has a hinge bangle that you could double stack to get a similar look. For a bit more variation in size and texture, I like this Ettika set. Prefer a white metal? Revolve has you covered.
I don’t post about Sloane’s clothing often but this little set is so great, that I had to share it. A few weekends ago it was actually hot in Spokane this summer, and I re-washed this breezy, light gauze set from Carter’s so she could wear it both days. It’s clearly going to get a lot of wear, so I snagged a gauze set in another color as well. Airy, pretty, washable and comfortable…what more do you want? Also comes in baby and child sizes.
Here are a few more things I read, watched and loved this weekend:
- Still my favorite manicure color.
- I need to make time this week to dive into the Anniversary Sale Catalog (I am not ready!).
- This Instagram video nails why women are often underpaid for jobs they feel passionate about (non-profits, government, teaching, etc.).
- I’ve wrestled these cookies away from Sloane twice (you know, so I can have some).
- How to tell if your wine has gone bad.
- Lost these earrings on a trip; immediately purchased them again. Immediately.
- Like nine of you sent me this article on how influencers are barely getting by. It’s a nice complement to this one about how influencers are getting uber-famous anymore.
- Finally, this book arrives tomorrow, and I can’t wait.
That’s all folks. See you next tomorrow.

Ok, but when are they going to make that adorable gauze set for adults?? So cute.
Ngl, I thought that set was a set of adult pajamas and I got really excited :(. As the mother of one, soon to be two, boys, I’m glad you don’t share more of Sloane’s clothes. Girl clothing is one hundred bajillion times cuter than the piles of dinosaurs and tractor outfits we get to choose from. I would be so jealous all the time.
Cute baby boy clothes do exist! There are lots of gender neutral and “masculine” options for that Carters gauze set. H&M and Zara also have truck and dinosaur free options for baby and toddler boys.
Have you, or has anyone reading, bought from Ettika before? I’m not familiar with the brand but I love those bracelets!
Also love the comment on the toddler gauze set, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve clicked on an ad for kids clothes thinking (wishing?) it was made in adult sizes!
I have an Ettika bracelet. The quality is good and I’m very happy with it.
If you’re open to non-fiction, I just finished Unlearning Silence by Elaine Lin Hering. So helpful for managers and recent grads.
Ha. Also thought that was an adult pajama set, maybe because I have one exactly like it from Aldi. From last year, I think.
A suggestion for consideration: linking books to a site like bookshop.org, which supports independent bookstores.
Oooh! I love this idea. I never know where to shop for books online that isn’t Amazon.
Oh my gosh enjoy God of the Woods!!! I loved it and it got me out of a recent reading slump. Shameless self-promotion- my bookstagram @readingtomydogs
