It’s difficult to find a shirt for work that doesn’t need a jacket or cardigan. A shirt that you can pair with a skirt or a pair of pants and it’s enough. A shirt that can carry an outfit without help. This is such a shirt.
This shirt from Karen Millen has a multiple things going for it: the puffed sleeve, the varied stripe patterns, the blue buttons. Paired with a cool trouser or a slim pencil skirt, this shirt is a great piece for summer. Also, the tailoring on the back is pretty fantastic.
The blouse can be worn tucked or untucked. You don’t see that much anymore. Untucked, I think it could work with a pair of navy or white shorts.
Bottom line, this is a very cool top for under-$150 (maybe less with the rotating sales happening this week). Wear it to work — casual or professional — or wear it on the weekend. It would also work with a camel blazer or a navy sweater skirt in the fall making it a versatile piece.

You’re so right that a standalone work blouse is hard to find. Unfortunately I don’t think that one would tuck in for me with my long torso. But it would work untucked, which is great.
