Happy Hour: Happy Fourth of July

Jun 28, 2024

With the arrival of the Fourth of July, many of us are planning backyard barbecues and group events. And one of the things that can make your event run smoothly is batch cocktails. So let’s talk about one of my favorites.

For less than $25 a pitcher, you can make these delicious Watermelon Cucumber Mojitos from Girl on the Bloor.  These can be made with the booze or without.  If the party has kids attending, I would make a double batch without the spirits (she uses vodka, I prefer light rum) and then keep a bottle of booze to the side for the adults to add their own.

I own two of these large glass dispensers from Target, and while I don’t use them often, I feel like they pay for themselves every time I do.  For a less expensive version, Target makes this acrylic alternative.

If the weather is nice enough, I intend to wear this cotton dress from J.Crew with the bold red stripe.  I will probably pair it with these raffia sandals from Dolce Vita.  J.Crew is currently offering 60% off final sale on this dress and a lot of great summer pieces, code JULY.

Other outfits I am considering depending on the weather include: this white eyelet top and chambray shorts and these white Spanx pants and a striped tee.  Why so many choices?  Because it’s Montana, and the weather can be anything from scorching to snow on the Fourth of July.

See you next week!

Just came here to say I made this cocktail last week based on your recommendation and it was an absolute hit. I will definitely be making it again this summer.
