Every month, I solicit questions from my Instagram followers for an Ask Me Anything. So let’s get to some fashion questions.
If you were starting your wardrobe from scratch, what three pieces would you buy?
Good question. For my current hybrid-work lifestyle, I would buy 1) a knit jacket (Boden and J.Crew make nice ones), 2) a maxi shirt dress that’s nice enough to wear out with different shoes, but good in the office (I like this Caslon one), and 3) a pair of non-legging, non-denim casual pants (I like these cargo pants and these cool ponte pants).
I am seeing a lot of shorts and vests with nothing underneath for the office. Can I wear that?
Where do you work? If it’s in PR or magazine publishing or one of those cool girl jobs where life is a Devil Wears Prada fashion show, probably. Other than that, probably not.
Remember that most of the influencers pushing this attire as “office appropriate” do not now, nor have they ever, worked in an office like yours. They are imagining a fictional office based on the television shows they’ve watched and figuring that if Rachel Green can wear sleeveless vests to work, so can you. The problem is Rachel is a fictional character who worked as a fashion buyer.
What’s your airplane bag?
This Lo & Sons OG. It’s my ride or die chick.
Best solution for chest wrinkles?
A dermatologist once told me that if you start to get wrinkles in a place that isn’t your face (mine were on my hands), treat that place like you would treat your face. So…
- SPF or better yet, a rash guard, to prevent further skin damage.
- Gentle cleanser.
- Retinol serum.
- Silicone patches — The research on these patches is mixed. Some studies say these give a mild, short term benefit. Others say they help products absorb better. I use them on my forehead and I’ve seen some light smoothing immediately after use, but it fades. So maybe put them on before a party if you’re wear a v-neck dress but don’t expect a long term fix.
Espadrilles are the shoe for summer, is there anything I can try to help alleviate the pain?
That depends on the cause of the pain. Blister pain is usually preventable with a blister prevention stick or spray. These are a game changer for breaking in new shoes. If it’s actually pain, a thin, gel insole can work wonders. I also throw a couple of fabric band-aids in my bag for emergencies.
Any recommendations for a quality duvet?
I own this oversized Downlite comforter, which is big enough to actually cover my king-sized bed while both people are asleep in it.
Need genuinely comfy heels for work. Any leads?
I own these Rockport heels and these Easy Spirits. Both are a great, comfortable, classic heel.
What should I wear to a country concert in Vegas in July?
Denim shorts. A breathable, cotton top. Cute boots. Fun earrings. (Just make sure to wear cotton socks with the boots, or you will be smelly and blistered.)
What was the last thing you bought for yourself?
This thin Missoma cuff. I bought it for my birthday. It’s a nice, mid-price piece of jewelry.

OR you can put two twin duvets on a king bed and never fight over the covers again!
Another vote for the L&S OG. Pretty sure you influenced me 8ish years ago to get one and I love it for air travel.
Yes to the Lo & Sons OG! I’ve been using mine since 2013ish.
