It’s been a fun week talking about shoes. A former co-worker texted me yesterday and asked what shoe I would buy, if I were only going to buy one shoe for summer. And, of course, I told her that I have two suggestions.
Her response: “Typical.”
Your perfect summer shoe depends on your lifestyle. Do you go into the office? Do you stay home? But for me, the biggest shoe decision making question of summer is: Do you want a trendy shoe or a classic?
Espadrilles are the hot shoe of summer. These raffia-accented shoes are everywhere right now. This pair from Franco Sarto come in several color ways. They also come in wide widths. Plus, the 3.75″ wedge with a 1″ platform is surprisingly easy to walk around in.
Nordstrom has a sizable selection of espadrilles for summer; lots of great styles. If you like the look, but you need less height, I loved these mini-wedges from Me Too. The black pair would look great with cotton sundresses.
For my money, however, I want something that isn’t so tightly tethered to a single season. I need a shoe that can be worn in April and September, as well as July. These LK Bennett Bianca sandals have enough of a closed toe look that I can wear them to the office or to brunch. I also really like the soft gold color, but they also come in beige.
LK Bennett’s shoes are not cheap, but they last. This pair is currently on sale, so I would snap them up for 30% off.

The espadrilles are available here for a lot less! https://www.francosarto.com/product/womens-franco-clemens-raffia-espadrille-wedge-sandal-5275819/black-leather-24100
I just got the LK Bennett sandals in gold and they are SO comfortable. The leather is really, really soft.
