Three Outfits I’ll Wear All Spring

Apr 17, 2024

When I started this blog, influencers still re-wore clothes. There were no haul videos filled with the latest from Shein before it winds up in a beach in Ghana poisoning the planet. There were no sponsored campaigns delivering fresh wardrobes each month. The content machine doesn’t like reruns.

But despite the changes, I still re-wear my clothes, I don’t ask for freebies, and I don’t often post what I’m wearing because it’s probably what I was wearing a few days ago.  So here are three outfits that I’ll be wearing a lot this spring.

Outfit One // Striped Button Down // White Wide Leg Jeans // Rothy’s Drivers // Half-Hoop Earrings

A striped shirt with white jeans is an easy classic.  Some can wear it to work any day, others only on Friday.  You can also wear it to a birthday party, a casual dinner, or anytime you need to look effortlessly pulled together.  The shirt above is from Rag & Bone, and I love the chevron detail on the pocket.  For something more affordable and inclusively sized, try J.Crew.

For white denim, I usually purchase more affordable options because there is such a high chance they get ruined.  I flirted with the idea of buying a pair from Paige this year, but returned them once I realized my error.  I mean, I have a toddler now, and her hands are always dirty — precautions must be taken to safeguard my sanity and my wallet.  The pair above is from Old Navy, but Gap has a wide variety of styles in white for spring/summer.  Hitting a J.Crew sale is also a good option.

For a pop of color, I chose these coral drivers from Rothy’s.  My feet are a little beat up post-pregnancy (remember the swelling?!), so I like a little more cushion than a standard ballet flat provides.  However, these red Mary Janes from Madewell have captured my attention.

Finally, to style these, I like a chunkier earring to spruce up the look.  I would recommend a stronger lip color because the palette isn’t very exciting.  Hair in a bun might be a little severe here, a bit Southern country club chic, so down and loose would be best.

Outfit Two // Gauze Dress //Double Strap Sandals // Cuff Bracelet

This is an easy look for any occasion you have this summer from church to work to lounging on Saturday because a gauze dress is that comfortable and that versatile.  This dress from Caslon comes in several colors, but I like this deep brown.

I bought my first gauze dress three summers ago and I love the lightweight fabric for hot summers in my home office or weekends. Gap has a cute style for <$50.  But my favorite option might be this look from Kohl’s that comes in a delightful berry hue.

I added a cuff bracelet for just a little bit of something.  This textured nail bracelet caught my eye because I liked that it gives a little Cartier nod without being a direct copy.  And the sandals are an easy style to wear all summer with any outfit because it’s such a subtle look.

Finally, to style it, I would recommend hair down or half-up.  I would also recommend a little bronzer for that summer glow.  I’ve been using this Ciele stick (which also has SPF) recently, and I really like it.

Outfit Three // Eyelet Sleeve Top // Wide Leg Jeans // Ballet Flats // Malachite Earrings

It’s not always warm enough in the Pacific NW or Rockies to give up jeans before June/July.  This pair from Paige give you that 70s wide leg vibe that’s so hot right now.  I also like this pair from Old Navy if you want something more affordable.

For the top, I chose this eyelet sleeve tee from H&M.  It’s very cute, and I think it’s one of those pieces that will spend a few summers in my closet.  For a more summery look, this Velvet top in white eyelet is so crisp and light.

The flats I chose are a mesh ballet flat, which is very on trend right now.  It’s a “real” shoe with the breathability of a sandal.  I also like this pair from Sam Edelman with sparkles, in case you want to be extra.

As for the earrings, I wanted something with a bit of color.  Malachite is such an underrated stone with its dramatic greens and natural vibe.  This pair from Missoma are great.  Want something more dramatic?  This pair from Tuckernuck would spruce up any look this summer.

Finally, to style, there are no serious requirements for an outfit this simple.  If you want the shoulder of the top to stand out, pull your hair up.  If you want to minimize it a bit, wear it down.  I would recommend a bit of lipstick and bronzer given the neutral palette.

I love this kind of post. Thank you! This reflects reality for me – I need to rewear my clothes! Question- do you wear your button down shirt tucked or untucked?

  2. Audrey says:

Kind of obsessed with every one of these! Thank you!

I wore white pants yesterday and they had literal handprints from my toddler on them by the end of the day. Saw this on CoJ and thought of this post!
