Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

Mar 27, 2024

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating.

Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and potions to get it back in gear. Bondi Boost is just the latest one.

Bondi Boost Thickening Therapy promises instant thickness and volume by lifting hair at the root.  My hair is stick straight and very fine, so the product intrigued me.  But using the shampoo and conditioner together, my hair felt sticky.  Almost like I had been for a run on a humid day and then blown the hair dry instead of washing.  Instead of touchably soft, it was touchably yuck.

The second time I used it, I skipped the conditioner in favor of a K18 treatment, and the stickiness went away.  There was a noticeable, and somewhat impressive amount of volume.  I was very pleased to once again be the bearer of bouncy locks.

I kept using the Bondi Boost shampoo until I noticed an unpleasant side effect: body acne.  Now, I am naturally prone to acne on my chest and shoulders, but I had kept the spots at bay for months until they returned.  It was instantly clear to me that the only thing I had changed was my shampoo, so I immediately stopped using it.  Six weeks later, the acne is mostly gone.

Bondi Boost makes an entire line of products to thicken, strengthen, and grow hair.  If I didn’t have acne prone skin, I would still be using the shampoo, because I loved the results.  Also, a friend who is post menopause, uses their HG products on her thinning her and swears by them.  She says they’re the “only ones that don’t smell like a pharmacy and feel like Driving Miss Daisy.”  So if you’re looking to give your hair a boost, give this product line a try.

I’ve tried it and wasn’t a fan. I’ve seen discovered Mauli GrowStrong Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s all I use now, and it smells amazing!

I’m having great results with the Virtue labs line…seeing thicker, healthier hair with no weird chemical smells/feels. Not cheap but worth it, using it also for thinning eyebrows. I think some of mine is also due to the early signs of perimenopause (late in life mother, or as the docs liked to call me, a “geriatric pregnancy.” Ugh).

Hi, I tend to get bacne from hair products too. Thankfully I got it under control by putting my hair up with a metal free claw clip (no rusting) until I rinse it out.
    Love your work!
